Rooibos - Blends of Rooibos with other teas.
All of Africantea.com Rooibos and Honeybush tea is NOI blended with other teas.
Exception:
We only offer a blend of Rooibos and Honeybuush ...
The steeping time is the same for both Rooibos and Honeybush.
Blends of Rooibos tea with tea other than Honeybush is not recommended !!!
Why not blend black tea or green tea with Rooibos ??
Well... although some companies offer those blends they fail to realize that Rooibos has a different steeping time frame from other teas.
AAAGHHH !!
Rooibos steeped with black tea
Black tea steeping recommendation is up to 3 minutes.
After 3 minutes a large amount of Tannin is released and the tea will taste bitter.
While Rooibos should be steeped beyond 3 minutes
(recommended time is 5 - 20 min). Steeping it for a shorter time would result in limited release the flavor, nutrients and antioxidants Rooibos is famous for.
Although steeping time for Green Tea varies it should be steeped at lower water temperature that is below boiling point.
Steeping Rooibos at lower temperature would require even longer steeping time. Green tea when steeped for extended time will also release Tannin and taste bitter.
If one would like to blend the delicious flavor of Rooibos with other teas we recommend steeping them separately then mixing them in order to achieve the desired taste.
